Can cosmetic surgery change facial bone shape?

I am a little ugly and am planning to get a plastic surgery,

I think there is a problem with my jaw's bone structure

I have heard of cosmetic jaw surgery but it doesn't change the basic shape of single jaw.

so, are there any surgeries available that can alter my jaw bone's basic shape?

P.S.

please don't tell me to be happy with what I am as I don't compromise that easy. Can cosmetic surgery change facial bone shape?
yea, there r things like bone implants, then maxillo facial surgeries done hwich could really change the way ur face wud look,

there r orthos, as well as maxillo facial surgeons who do tht, all these come under the broad head plastic surgery, so consulting a plastic surgeon wud really help. Can cosmetic surgery change facial bone shape?
The usual procedures are implants or fillers. Also lipo. I doubt they will shave your jaw (mandible) bone.

Dramatic changes can occur just by having a chin implant and the fat suctioned out or by having saline implants over the cheek bone area.

DO NOT accept silicone in your face and always research any Doctor's qualifications before you go under the knife. Some procedures are even available from an aesthetic practitioner! Much cheaper and safer.
Yes and no. They can add an implant to the jaw, but they can't remove anything, so they could make it bigger, but not smaller, if that makes any sense. Make sure you really thoroughly check out your surgeon, getting a good reputable one is very important.

What do you think of ladies who spend lots of money at the cosmetic counters at fancy stores?

When I go to the Mall I walk through the fancy stores and see all kinds of real pretty women buying cosmetics in the high end counters. I suspect this money would be better spent on more reasonably prices beauty goods at Target or Walmart, especially during a recession.

Why would a women spend so much money on overpriced cosmetics at a store like Macy's Nordstroms, Saks and Bloomingdales in today's economy? What do you think of ladies who spend lots of money at the cosmetic counters at fancy stores?
First of all your question is posted out of the class envy to the rich. It is people like yourself that are buying into the Obama liberal crap. First of all those rich people have worked hours and hours etc. to build their career or business and if they want to buy expensive it is THEIR RIGHT we live in a free country. Remeber this instead of hating them for buying high end cosemtics work hard and strive to be able to buy it yourself not be lazy and force communism on others to buy cheap products just because you cannot afford them.

And lastly I want to add as a note to open everyone's eyes

When Obama says he will not tax the poor and only tax the rich WAKE UP TO THE LIE first of all the poor are not taxed at all as is they get everything back when they file their taxes and all the rich business owners will move the jobs out of this country and never pay taxes and guess what its the middle class that will suffer they will pay for it and finally to teach you about economics my dear if you raise taxes to zing it to ';THE MAN'; its people like you that will pay for that tax increase because the cost of goods will increase so your Target brand covergirl istead of being 5.00 will cost you 10.00

Care about you, yourself stop envying those that have something you don't have and work harder so you can have it! I write this having escaped a communist country!

Also I want to answer NIK

Mineral makeup is not good for you when it contains BISMUTH this is a kin to arsenic and clogs pores etc. No matter what the makeup you SHOULD NEVER SLEEP IN IT that will destroy little by little your complexion and spin you off into a dull texture. Finally about yourname you are mistaken its not 10cents and you have to buy thousands and thousands of pieces and still pay min.10.00 dollars on average they actually manufacture for companies like Jane Iredale and L'oreal etc... Just wanted to make that point clear as your are mis informing the people asking questions. What do you think of ladies who spend lots of money at the cosmetic counters at fancy stores?
There is a big difference between drug store products and brand name products when it comes to quality. I typically use drug store products since I don't have a lot of money to spend on makeup. But for Christmas I got a gift set of Estee Lauder makeup and it is the best makeup I have ever used. So if you can afford it, especially when it comes to concealer and powder it is worth splurging on.
I guess that I'm one of those women. Makeup is my one of my guilty pleasures and I think that alot-not all-of the more high end products do have better benefits then the cheaper products. There are some in the cheaper brands that do have wonderful color payoff or work wonderful for your skin. I work and sometimes I love to splurge like that and buy cool makeup products.
I am 23 and I have no kids, I work my *** off ( I went to school and got a degree) to have nice things. I make double what some of the people I work with make. That doesn't make me better than them, I just knew that I wanted to have a certain kind of lifestyle and did something to have it. I am one of those people who go to the makeup counter and buy nice makeup. I love Dillards, Macy's, Sephora, and Ulta. I usually buy MAC, Bare Minerals, Stila, Clinique, Perscriptives, Hard Candy and Urban Decay. I love the eyeshadows, eyeliners, blushes, bronzers...etc.

That being said, I STILL go to Target and buy my face wash and stuff.

So. Why exactly should I take ALL my money and spend it at Target or Walgreens? Doesn't it all end up in the same place eventually? I still make sure my bills are paid and there will always be food on our table. The cost of my make up isn't going to send us to the poor house.

If some one chooses to buy a car during a recession and they can afford to buy a Jaguar, should they spend it some where more reasonable like a Chevy dealership and buy an Aveo? Same concept.
Its funny because most of those places get their makeup from a place called yourname which charges very low prices like 10 cents for an eyeshadow and then they just jack up the prices. there are some advantages to buying more expensive stuff, like a mineral makeup. 100% pure mineral makeup can work wonders for your face. You could wear it to bed and it wouldn't clog your pores, (unless you wore it all day and now have all of the daily toxins mixed in). It truly is amazing, but a cheaper brand might not be authentic. Jane Iredale is great, not too expensive, 100% mineral, and works wonders!
Some people are make-up addicts and want to look their best and some people are just very rich or have a good job and can afford nice things.

But i don't really care as all make-up is made up with the same ingredients and doesn't look any different on you when you used the same kind, like eyeliner, expensive or very cheap will just look the same.

I don't buy expensive stuff either because being able to afford food and other important needs is more important then looks.
Well this is just one of the most ignorant things I have ever heard!

If people don't buy these goods then others will lose their jobs. What do you think THAT does to the economy. Besides, if I can afford to buy it. What business is it of yours?
Try just thinking of it as their money and their right to spend it however they want. We all like to splurge and treat ourselves from time to time. If that's what makes them happy I'm all for it. It's basically harmless.
I don't have a problem with it, it's what they want to spend their money on. And in this today's economy we need people to buy more things not stop alltogether, otherwise there will be no money coming in!
By and large, the very rich aren't affected by the failing economy.

At least not enough to stop buying luxury goods.
What they do does not concern me. I am happy that I don't spend much on cosmetics, especially at upscale stores, but Walgreen's usually has what I want at a good price, and Target as well.
their money their problem. yep.

get over it.

what do you think of people asking questions about stuff that has nothing to do with them?
That is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!! Who do you think you are ragging on people, just because they can buy something you can't. Get a JOB!
I don't think anything of them because it's none fo my business what they spend their money on.
Because they have rich husbands or daddies
some of it really is better made and better for your skin!

ART - Anyone use cosmetics as art materials?

Hi,

My wife died - and she had all this cosmetic stuff, and my artistic mind was thinking about using this stuff as art materials - like paint or whatever.. like the lipstick, the blush, the foundation, pencils, or whatever. I know that sounds nuts.. but I'm curious if anyone else thought of this and has done this, and what can be used and what can't be used. I don't know what to do with her things yet. It's still too painful to deal with, but I'm slowly starting to deal with it some.

open to ideas.

thanksART - Anyone use cosmetics as art materials?
I had the idea of a portrait spring to mind, perhaps using lipstick would be really nice. Just the outline of a person face though.

Check Egon Schiele. He did some great portraits, in a very unique style.ART - Anyone use cosmetics as art materials?
This guy does many drawings and paintings with very unusual sutff, in this video he does a portrait of someone using mascara. Check out his profile you might get some ideas.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sahHSNy_鈥?/a>
Everything under the sun has been used for artwork including food stuff. When you're up to it I think a portrait of your wife with her materials might be an idea worth considering?
I am so very sorry for your loss and will be praying for you.

Nail polish is used some times for art. My friend's aunt does it. I am sure lipstick and blush could posibly be used. Eye shadow would be cool and liners for the lines of the drawing/painting
It's a nice idea on using your wife's items onto making a painting. I usee to use eyeliners and lipsticks to draw random stuff, but i stopped... I think it's a great way to express your feelings (especially on what happened), and although you may think these items are... precious and you don't want to use them, I think it'd be great. :D
i did that once. it turned out good. liquid liner works good. so does other eyeliner and almost everything will work. just start experimenting. maybe you could even do a portrait of your wife to remember her and you'll be using something that will make it even more special because it was hers. I hope this helps.

What should I major if I want to go into pharmaceutical research or cosmetic research company?

I am deciding what to major, since I want to have a career in a science research company or cosmetic research company? Which one suits better, chemistry or biology? What should I major if I want to go into pharmaceutical research or cosmetic research company?
Definitely chemistry or chemical engineering. I am an intern at a pharmaceutical company now. It really helps to get a doctorate in chemistry as well. Otherwise with a bachelors or master's you will just be doing experiments in the lab while the PhD chemist does all the ';brain'; work. What should I major if I want to go into pharmaceutical research or cosmetic research company?
For cosmetics, chemistry. You aren't making skin--you're making stuff to put on skin.

For science research, either one or even ecology, physics or computer science. If geothermal power gets going, geology could be an up-and-comer.

Can cosmetic nose surgery make your nostrils smaller?

I have kind of long, oval nostrils and a bulbous tip on my nose.

I was wondering if a rhinoplasty could make nostrils a lot smaller and round as well as flatten and make the the cartilage on the tip smaller?

I can get the way I want it to look by pressing 2 fingers in the middle of my nose, if that helps. Can cosmetic nose surgery make your nostrils smaller?
im not an expert on nose jobs, but im sure if u explain to ur surgeon exactly wat u wan ur nose to look like, he/she will try his/her best to make ur nose look perfectCan cosmetic nose surgery make your nostrils smaller?
My mom just had the same issue fixed an she looks amazing. The shape is perfect!
Yes, it could do that.

Homemade Cosmetics-Does anyone have recipes to make homemade eye cream, cosmetics, lotions, cleaners etc.?

Honey Mask Recipe

The best facial mask is honey. Place a cloth in warm water and apply to your face to open the pores. Smear on honey, and leave on for 15 to 30 minutes. Rinse off with warm water, then use cold water to close the pores. Use once a week.

Miracle Whip Exfoliator

';Yes, I am talking about the same Miracle Whip your Aunt Mable uses in her macaroni salad. Apparently, women all over the US are using this salad dressing ingredient on their faces to remove dead flaky skin.

I have not tried it myself, but supposedly, KRAFT MIRACLE WHIP Exfoliating Facial makes an amazing treatment for normalizing over-oily skin.

Here is how you apply this ';miracle cream';:

Make sure all your hair is pulled back from your face. Apply a thin layer of the KMW all over your face, up to the eyelashes and make sure to also put some on your neck. The ';fumes'; from the vinegar may bother you so walk around the house to try to escape them. LOL!

Leave on for 10 minutes, then massage gently. The dead skin cells on your face will roll off in rubbery little balls. Rinse your skin with tepid water, then cleanse as usual following your regular beauty regime. If you apply the KMW every day, in 6-8 weeks your skin should be completely renewed.

I cannot help but wonder if this Miracle Whip eats away at the dead skin cells on your face, what does it do to the inside of the body when someone eats it?? Pretty scary!!! One person believes that the vinegar in the Miracle Whip is what causes the exfoliation and rejuvenation. If that is true, why not try a mixture of organic apple cider vinegar with some olive oil, apply that and see what happens? One could whip together the olive oil and apple cider vinegar, apply it to their face and then use the leftovers on their salad!

I think I will start experimenting with some ingredients and try to come up with a facial recipe to rival the KRAFT MIRACLE WHIP!';

Avocado Facial Recipe

Avocado is a naturally rich moisturizer. Mash the meat of the avocado into a creamy texture. Massage into the face and neck . Leave on for 15 minutes and gently rinse off.

Facial Mask Recipe

Squeeze half a lemon and mix the juice with one beaten egg white. Leave on your face overnight or, for a quick pick-me-up, just 15 minutes. Splash warm water on your face to rinse.

It helps to removes blotches, because the lemon works as a bleaching agent.

Lighten Circles under Eyes Recipe

To lighten dark circles under your eyes, wrap a grated raw potato in cheesecloth and apply to eyelids for 15-20 minutes. Wipe off residue and apply an eye cream.

Egg %26amp; Honey Mask Recipe

Mix together 1 tablespoon honey, 1 egg yolk, 1/2 teaspoon almond oil and 1 tablespoon yogurt. Honey stimulates and smoothes, egg and almond oil penetrate and moisturize, and yogurt refines and tightens pores.

Egg, Avocado %26amp; Mud Facial Mask Recipe

Clay is available in powder form at any health food store. Mix 1 tablespoon dry clay with 1 egg yolk, 1/4 of a mashed avocado and enough witch hazel to create a smooth mixture. Mud dries excess sebum while the egg yolk and avocado replenish lost moisture. Witch hazel tones.

Facial Exfoliater Recipe

2 heaped tsp fine oatmeal

1 tsp. baking soda

Combine ingredients, and add enough water to make a paste. Apply to skin and rub gently. Rinse and gently pat dry.

Banana Wrinkle Fighter Recipe

Banana is wonderful as an anti-wrinkle treatment. Mash 1/4 banana until very creamy. Spread all over face and leave for 15-20 minutes before rinsing off with warm water followed by a dash of cold. Gently pat dry.

Grape Cleanser Recipe

Grape juice makes an excellent cleanser for any skin type. Simply split one or two large grapes, remove pips and rub the flesh over face and neck. Rinse off with cool water.

Oily Skin Mask Recipe

Mix 1 tsp. brewer鈥檚 yeast with enough natural yogurt to make a thin mixture. Pat this thoroughly into all the oily areas and allow it to dry on the skin. After 15 - 20 minutes, rinse off with warm water, then cool water and blot dry.

  • How far would you go to have cosmetic surgery?

I read there are females in Asia who go for more than 15 operations, and western females who do upper and lower body parts as well. And they become so beautiful as to be almost unrecognizable, esp facial features. Are there serious or negative effects to their health, soul-mates, children, etc?

Thanks for responding! :-))How far would you go to have cosmetic surgery?
I think the risks to their health shouldn't be too severe, especially since medical technology is so advanced these days- there's even non-invasive liposuction nowadays!

But the thing is, in places like South Korea where the number of people who had done plastic surgery is ridiculously high, the people start to scarily look alike. Just check out Korean female stars and after awhile, you will find difficulty distinguishing them apart. The huge eyes- check. the double eyelids- check. The straight nose- check. The high cheekbones- check. The pouty lips- check. Suddenly, Korean actresses start to look like clones of each other.

I have absolutely nothing against plastic surgery. Most people use it for aesthetic purposes, rather than reconstructive ones, and it is a societal norm (though hypocritically, some people still frown upon it behind others' backs). But such ';work'; leads on to wonder: How will their children end up looking like? Their children will end up looking like their original selves, which couldn't have been too good-looking for them to want to have plastic surgery. Then how will the children feel if they realise that they don't look like mummy/daddy at all?

Such implications are not thought of when someone goes for MAJOR plastic surgery to aesthetically enhance one's looks. But still, this trend is young. Wait another 10 years or so, when the children of aesthetically enhanced parents have grown up.How far would you go to have cosmetic surgery?
thats pretty discusting, for me im never ever going to get cosmetic surgery. every wrinkle on someones face tells a story of their life, and i personally think thats REAL beauty.

i think its absouletely ridiculous how the world is today, expecting everyone to look good withought actually seem to care about personalitys anymore.

if someones unhappy with their body then why not go to the gym?

    thats what i do!

    and you are welcome :)
I wouldn't even CONSIDER cosmetic surgery.
I wouldn't do it. As much as I hate my flaws, at the end of the day, I forget about them.

How to eliminate crinkle from frown in the forehead between eyebrows w/o cosmetic surgery?

Lately, I noticed that even when I'm not frowning I'll involuntarily crinkle my forehead. In pictures it makes me look mad even though I'm not. Even when I try to release the frown, I can't! Is there some sort of acupuncture or massage therapy that I can use to eliminate this? How to eliminate crinkle from frown in the forehead between eyebrows w/o cosmetic surgery?

welcome to the aging process! Fun ain't it? wait until your vision starts to fade, crows feet around the eyes, smile lines around your mouth, a turkey neck, double chin, baggy eyelids, dark circles under your eyes, they are all on their way!

Fuggedaboutit! Go have fun and enjoy your life, or worry more, make the lines worse and go see a plastic surgeon for Botox injections. No accupuncture will help nor a massage

I'd like to do a little research before I buy my skincare products. Which website has the most objective reviews on cosmetic products?

Thanks!Which cosmetic products review site do you recommend?
    www.makeupalley.com

It has literally every product you can think of, and this site is known to people around the world since the people on there gives their reviews on everything from skincare to makeup.

    good luck in your project

hope this helps!Which cosmetic products review site do you recommend?
Makupalley.com is a good one.. I also like to use this site: http://www.makeupproducts.com/forum?utm_鈥?/a> they have all types of makeup product reviews from a bunch of different brands. I find it to be a little bit more helpful than makeupalley.com, but that's me personally. I've always been able to find good reviews on what I am researching, so I use makupproducts.com more so than makeupalley.com.
Like everyone else has been saying, makeupalley.com is amazing.

Just a warning- don't trust reviews on the products'/makeup company's website. They're likely to be screened and the bad reviews deleted.
makeupalley has the most number of products reviewed, mainly from regular customers, not the usual review from the fashion industry w/c i personally think is laced w/ bias against other rival cosmetic brands.
i like to go to totalbeauty.com too besides makeup alley. the site can be slow, but still ive found it to be really helpful

How difficult is it to put on cosmetic contact lenses?

I'm thinkin about getting a pair but have like no experence whatsoever in putting them on/off. What do i do?How difficult is it to put on cosmetic contact lenses?
Cosmetic contact lenses still should be purchased from a licensed professional who should show you how to place and remove you new contacts and care for them properly. You eyes will need to be checked and sized for proper fit and in both diameter and curve. Most will even give you a cleaning solution starter kit and case when you are instructed.

They are pretty easy to use and wear, just like the prescription ones. How difficult is it to put on cosmetic contact lenses?
get someone who's done it before to show you in person.

generally, you hold back the eyelids, and gently place the contact on the surface.

for taking them off, you just grab it. it doesn't hurt.
They are easy. After the first day or two you get used to them.
this is not difficult, you only have to wash your hands and clean the lenses, put it in your index finger an insert it in the lids and acomodate it.
Their relitively easy! It took me a while to get use to touching my eye but after a month or so its second nature. That doesn't mean you wont have issues with them though! I still do and have been wearing them for 4 years but there great I LOVE not having glasses!!!
When I purchased my first pair of contacts my Optician would not let me leave the office until I showed her that I could put the contacts in and take them out, it took a few tries before I got the hang of it but believe me it is no easy task.

It is a natural instinct to close the eyes when something is coming towards you so you have to hold the eye lid with one hand look up and place the contact in the eye then you roll the eye down and up to settle the contact do the same for the other eye. To remove you look to the left or right depends on the eye, for the right eye you look left so that you can't see the finger coming :) place the finger on the edge of the contact and slide it out of your eye.

Oh make sure that you are using a clean surface and not an open drain.

Good luck I went back to glasses it is just so much more convenient.
To be quite honest with you, I bought a pair and I had a great deal of difficulty in putting them on too. I had never worn lenses and my eyes were teary and very uncomfortable. I think the best thing is to talk to an optometrist and get instructions.
Is not difficult is the way you pud it on that makes it look difficult.
Get themm.. and keep practicing putting them on and off..

it only took me 2 days until i was able to put them on =] pretty easy

Why Do Cosmetics Smell? (on a molecular level)?

I am doing a secondary+ research paper for my chemistry class on why cosmetics smell, but im having trouble finding any good valid sources. if anyone can give me a reason on a molecular level it would be greatly appreciated, from there i can look it up and develop a more thorough reason, but anything is appreciated. It is due on June 4, 2007. HELP! and also, keep in mind that i am aware that the chemicals, oils etc are the reason it has an odor, i am looking for why those chemicals produce the odor. This may require some knowledge in biochemistry. THANK YOU SO MUCH!%26lt;3Why Do Cosmetics Smell? (on a molecular level)?
They evaporate, the molecules float through the air to receptor molecules in your nose, and you smell them.

when using shadow does it look the same? i heard that black shaow looks better than black liner, and does anyoen know if Jane tests on animalsEye shadow as liner, and anyone use Jane cosmetics?
jane cosmetics does not test on animals.... now for the shadow as a liner... It looks great for both smokey and DARK looks. If you want a smokey look you can use the shadow as your liner but if you want a black line not just a mokey line you can wet your brush and then use your shadow on the wet brush which is a great way to make the color stand out. Not all eyeshadows can be used as eyeliner thought. Your best bet is using a color that you know looks just as good off the pot as it does in it. Also, using pencil eyeliner and placing black eyeshadow on topof it can help you keep that lied look all day!!

Good luck finding your own individual look!!!!Eye shadow as liner, and anyone use Jane cosmetics?
Jane does not test on animals. Eye shadow can look better if you put it on with an eye liner brush! It looks very smokey :]
I usually use shadow as liner...no it doesnt look the same...*mineral make up does tho* but it looks softer and smoother.

*get the brush moist before dipping it in the shadow*

I used to use Jane when I was like 14..cant really find it anymore. And Im not sure if they test on animals

I'm planning to go for plastic surgery, can you recommend a good, and scilled surgeon. I will also like to go through one of these cosmetic saffari planning companies, what is your opinion on them? Can you recommend one?Do you know of a good plastic surgeon or company who organises cosmetic saffaris?
Plastic surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Forerunners Healthcare .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

    Hope this helps.

What can I do about unsatisfactory cosmetic surgery?

I had some cosmetic surgery done about 3 months ago. Everything has healed by now, but it isn't even close to what I expected it to look like. Suing the doctor is a last result because it is a lot of trouble, and the whole staff was friendly to me. So aside from suing, what can I do about unsatisfactory cosmetic surgery results?

The surgery cost $2,000. I want satisfaction. What can I do about unsatisfactory cosmetic surgery?
Have you discussed this with the surgeon who did the procedure? Were your expectations realistic? Did you READ the consent form you signed?

Many procedures take longer than 3 months to get the final result. You don't give details about hat you had done, so I can't comment on that.

No lawyer is going to touch your case, unless there is clear negligence and monetary loss. They care only about the money. $2000 is worth 5 minutes of their time.

Your surgeon may be able to fix what you don't like, or may be able to explain better what surgery is able and not able to accomplish.

Plastic surgeons don't usually want to take on someone else's dissatisfied patient, so you really need to try to work it out with the first one. What can I do about unsatisfactory cosmetic surgery?
Maybe do another cosmetic surgery and pay more money, or you can not do the surgery and just be yourself :)
Nothing. You got what you payed for. What, did you think you'd look like friggin' Brad Pitt afterwards or something? Cosmetic surgery can't work miracles.

Are benefit cosmetics worth the price?

Well I'm 15 years old and i dont have a lot of money haha :) About 100 bucks XD I wanna get a really good product and i was thinking maybe from Benefit ? :) Like there Erase Paste or the Boi-ing concealer or something.

PLEASE tell me if Benefit makeup is good or what you would recommend instead :)Are benefit cosmetics worth the price?
The only thing from Benefit that I have right now is a eyeshadow, but I love it. It looks great and lasts all day.Are benefit cosmetics worth the price?
I LOVE BENEFIT! But you should really look at each individual product rather than the entire line. I've never tried the Erase paste or Boi-ing concealer, but I'm a true fan of Benetint and Browzing. At your age, I wouldn't try to throw all my money away on cosmetics. There are plenty of over the counter products that will do the job. For an OTC mascara, I'm totally addicted to Maybeline's Define-A-Lash.
I love every Benefit product I own. Some of them I purchase over and over because they are part of my daily routine. My must-have-at-all-times items are:

High Beam cream highlighter - I use this under my eyebrows and on my cheekbones to give me a fresh look

Eye Bright eye pencil - I use this for everything, both as an under-eye concealer, a eyeshadow base, to highlight my tear ducts... everything!

Thrrrob and Dandelion powders, beautiful on all skin tones, year round. I own both colors so that I can vary it.

Silky Finish lipstick in Jing-a-ling (I usually buy 2 at a time because I use it almost every day!)

    Lemon-Aid concealer and eye primer

    Powderflage set powder concealer

Benefit is somewhat pricey, but for the quality, it is really worth every penny, in my opinion.

  • I had 3 interviews with m.a.c cosmetics after the third, said they have a hiring freeze?

After my third interview I was told they would get back to me wihthin a week. A week went by and I called and was told they were still interviewing for two more weeks . Two weeks went by and I called and the CM said they had a hiring freeze. Should I just move on?I had 3 interviews with m.a.c cosmetics after the third, said they have a hiring freeze?
I've been told the same thing after trying to get a job with them. They didn't hire me or anyone else. A lot of the time the store that the MAC counter is in decides that there are enough employees there. I've also been told that MAC limits the number of makeup artists at a counter depending on the size and popularity of the store it's in.

I'm sure it was nothing against you. They seem to be a difficult company to work for in some places though!I had 3 interviews with m.a.c cosmetics after the third, said they have a hiring freeze?
Of course. Hiring freeze = they're not currently hiring. Look for another position at another cosmetics company.

Animal Testing - is it okay? YES, NO, no cosmetics testing only, only rats, only criminals, can't decide?

I'm doing a debate on Animal Testing. Please tell me what you think! YES of course! NO it's not right! Criminals on death row or such should be tested. Only ';stupid animals'; such as rats, mice, pigs... Cosmetic animal testing should be banned, but otherwise animal testing is okay, or can't decide? If you have other stuff to say or talk about just post it here. I really appreciate it!!Animal Testing - is it okay? YES, NO, no cosmetics testing only, only rats, only criminals, can't decide?
    no.....

the animals are innocent. just let them live in their natural habitat and let us live on ours.

they should invent something where they can test cosmetics on something else not living thingsAnimal Testing - is it okay? YES, NO, no cosmetics testing only, only rats, only criminals, can't decide?
NO! What did animals ever do to us? Why should THEY have to take the punishment for all of our screw ups, cosmetic wise? I DISAGREE TO THE FULLEST EXTENT!

Criminals on death row should be tested on, because that will most likely be the only use they will have on this planet. (with provided protection for the ';testee'; i suppose)

ANIMALS SHOULD NEVER BE PUNISHED FOR STUPIDITY IN HUMANS!

:) good luck on your debate

How much is a 2006 Suzuki GS500F w/ 1200 miles n minor cosmetic damage due to being dropped worth?

The cosmetic damage is not very noticable and the vehicle has a clear title. I checked kelly blue book value but those estimates are very general cause they don't factor in milage or condition. KBBV was 3800 but that assumed that a 2006 would be in excellent condition n have 7000 miles on it.How much is a 2006 Suzuki GS500F w/ 1200 miles n minor cosmetic damage due to being dropped worth?
i wouldnt pay more than a grand for a bike that was dropped, he's probably selling it because there is still somethin wrong with it, the front forks could be bent and they are very expensive to replace. How much is a 2006 Suzuki GS500F w/ 1200 miles n minor cosmetic damage due to being dropped worth?

What is required to become a cosmetic surgeon?

So, I want to become a cosmetic surgeon when I grow up, but know nothing about it! I don't know if it involves internships, what other experience I would need, what the best schools for this are, or what i would need to study in school. Can someone help me out? What is required to become a cosmetic surgeon?
You'd need a 4 year college degree (major in anything but take the premed classes in bio, chem, physics and math), 4 years of medical school, 5 years general surgical residency, and additional training to specialize as a cosmetic surgeon. Pretty much every 4-year college and university offers premed, so go wherever you want - you can apply to the top med schools from anywhere. While in high school, take all the math and lab sciences you can, while still taking the classes necessary to get into college. What is required to become a cosmetic surgeon?
Most school these days have ';school counselors'; that question is part of their job. They do know those answer's. If your school does not have a counselor, then ask your teacher what he/she suggest as places/or people to talk with. Yea know, your principle has to be educated in so many different areas of knowledge, bet your principle could definitely point you in the right direction. Good luck and i hope you do full-fill your dream, we sure do have alot of people out there that need your help.

What is the right age for Cosmetic Surgery?

I am writing a paper on cosmetic surgery during the teenage years and I wanted to see what other people thought about the issues.

When do you think its appropriate (age) to have the operation?

Would you every have cosmetic surgery done and if so what would you do?

Do you think girls as young as 14 should be having cosmetic surgery? What is the right age for Cosmetic Surgery?
No, I do not think it is appropriate for a 14 year old girl to go through cosmetic surgery.

Unless of course she has suffered a devastating scarring accident or other injury (perhaps at birth) and has the means to have it corrected at this time.

The reason is it, I don't believe the shock of the pain is worth it to a teen vs the gain at this age. And the tendancy to get addicted to pain relieving drugs is too high to risk it.

If the teen can overcome the surgery without getting hooked on drugs can withstand the shock - then I'm all for it, and I wish them well. But, I'm concerned for the ones that will become a victim of the surgery itself. Using it to get drugs, and to correct for problems in their lives when they thought that appearance was the cause for the problem, when it wasn't.What is the right age for Cosmetic Surgery?
lets just get one thing straight, reconstructive surgery is not the same as cosmetic surgery. Reconstructive surgery repairs damage done by an accident or a congenital defect. You could also include girls getting breast reductions for very large breasts that cause back pain. These are medically necessary procedures.

Cosmetic surgery is getting breast enlargement, nose jobs, etc. It is simply vanity surgery. A nose job could be done at a younger age if it was causing psychological problems (child getting severly teased, low self esteem, etc) but other than cases like that cosmetic surgery should not be done until at least the age of 18, but I wouldn't recommend it until much later.
    40
It is an individual decision, and must be treated as such.

There are physiologic reasons why some procedures are done earlier and some later. We do otoplasties (';ear pinning';) on young children, and that is strictly cosmetic. They do very well, and don't have to go through 12 years of school being teased and developing neuroses because of other children's unkind remarks.

There are some procedures that I think are completely inappropriate for minors - breast augmentation is the most obvious. (Unless it is to correct a congenital deformity, like tubular/tuberous breasts - there's a picture on this site: http://www.hermosaplasticsurgery.com/mig鈥?/a>

The younger patients I have seen have had some pretty horrendous deformities, and have been among the most grateful for their surgeries. We don't do many cosmetic procedures on kids, though.

Some teenagers are able to handle surgery well. Heck, we yank out their wisdom teeth without thinking twice at that age. Others, not so much.

I have had cosmetic surgery (reduction mammaplasty) which was medically indicated. I would LOVE an abdominoplasty, but can't take the time off work, and the husband isn't thrilled with the idea of a large scar. Of course, I'm old :)

    That's my $0.02
I really don't feel all the cosmetic surgery stuff. I believe teenagers need to be more in tune with their abilities as opposed to their looks. In this superficial society... we have kids feeling their appearance is inferior from an early age. When 15 year olds begin wanting to get bigger breasts and nose jobs.... that's crazy. There was none of these scemes out back in the day and we all made it just fine. I don't believe anyone should be allowed to do this until about age 25. By that time you have an idea if the problem is life altering or if they can adapt to it and move on. Sometimes defects are devastating and sometimes it is in the mind of the person and just ain't that serious.

I would have it done. The thing is... I am 46. I know what I want. I know the consequences and repercussions behing having it. I am an adult. A teenager cannot think in the capacity of an adult. We know that by some of the bad decisions they make when it comes to life in general.

I would have a tummy tuck because I have a 'pudge ' that I am too lazy to get rid of. Actually I need motivation. I'd consider breasts because mine are small and I believe I would have better choices of clothing and fit if I did. That would be it.

I saw a woman on Oprah who have her body cut up so much she looked like a duck about the face. She had began obsessing on it and had about 235 surgeries. Imagine that. Does she even have a body left to work with. So you see... altering your body is not always as glamorous as people would like to think.
you dont want to have cosmetic surgery until youre 18-21. Your body at your age is changing and growing if you change something now, like a nose job or breast implants ect, by the time youre 21 you might look way different than you expected
I think that would sort of depend on when puberty began and ended for the individual. Currently, there are far too many teenagers seeking plastic surgery for purely superficial reasons, especially girls seeking implants. Many of these girls haven't even finished maturing yet, and thus, have no idea what they could be doing to their own development! If an individual needed a reconstructive procedure, I don't think there should be any significant age limit, but for purely cosmetic reasons, surgery should be restricted to at least 18 years, if not 21. Personally, I didn't even know what could happen to my body until I had kids!!! Now, a set of twins later, I can understand the desire to have one's body ';put back to normal';, but I'm not sure that I would ever do it for myself.

When I turn 18 I'm going to get a full facial cosmetic surgery makeover. What do you think?

I'm sick of not feeling pretty

I want to get multiple operations, basically tell the doctor to do whatever it takes to make me beautiful.

I am asian btw and these operations are common in asia

    what do you think?

I'm quite conviced to do it though. When I turn 18 I'm going to get a full facial cosmetic surgery makeover. What do you think?
DONT, SOME MAYBE , BUT WHAT IF YOU MET SOMEONE THAT WASNOT GOOD LOOKING ALSO BUT YOU LIKE HIM! WOULD YOU WANT HIM TO MAKE HIM SELF OVER. I DONT THINK SO. HAPPYNESS COMES FROM WITHIN FIRST, THEN IF LUCKY , ANOTHER. IT HAS 100% NOTHING TO DO WITH LOOKS. TRUST ME WITH THIS. THATIS ONLY ATRACTION EVEN IF ONCE. ITWILL TURN BACK TO THE PERSON THAT IS YOU, AND IS STILL THE PERSON THAT WAS BEFORE PLASTIC SURGERY. love your self%26lt; first%26gt; then others TIMWhen I turn 18 I'm going to get a full facial cosmetic surgery makeover. What do you think?
Well, if there are specific parts of your face that you are not happy with and a qualified surgeon (get the advice of more than 1 surgeon... and go the THE BEST you can find, no matter how far you can reasonably travel) tells you that they can give you what you tell them you want (don't hold back... you want to make it very clear what would meet your expectations), and you have both the $$ and the patience, then why not? No one knows how you feel more than you... and they will NEVER understand. You might think about doing 1 thing at a time... 2 max... and rejudge yourself at that point. Healing from many more things at once is very hard on your body and mind. Surgery is controlled trauma. Go slow. And good luck.
HAHA that sounds ridiculous! I'm asian too and I don't think you should follow the millions of other insecure asians that get plastic surgery. Instead you should save the money, surround yourself with people who will not judge you by your appearances, and learn to love and accept yourself%26lt;3
well... full facial is first of all, not good health-wise and also probably really hard to maintain. my sis got the eyelid thing but i hate it cus she already looked beautiful without them. i hate plastic surgery but thats just my opinion
i think you should do whatever you want. you are going to look so pretty after(:!!!

you should so do it! i am 15 and when i am 18 i am going to do that to!

    more power to youuuu(:

  • How can I grow my marykay cosmetic sales though I use a wheelchair?

    hi,

I use a wheelchair so that really hinders my businees because I lot of houses aren't acessiable, sugestions on how I can network and market? How can I grow my marykay cosmetic sales though I use a wheelchair?
The idea is to get them to come to your house. It does not matter if you are in a wheelchair. One of the greatest leaders of all time was President Franklin Roosevelt and he was in a wheelchair from the time he contacted polio as a young adult. This did not stop him from achieving his dream. There are many different ways to do your sales and I am sure there will be other posts on this answer from people who do Mary Kay Sales. Since you are in a wheel chair you are going to have to use an instrument that scares most people new to the sales business. It is called the telephone/cellphone. We use the phone all the time for mindless chit chat, but when it comes to asking something from someone we get nervous You are going to have to mentally tough and understand that people will say mean things to you and/or hang up in your face. Sales is a people to people business You can also do direct mailing and send samples and invitations through the mail. Anyway, I wish great success. How can I grow my marykay cosmetic sales though I use a wheelchair?
    Hi,

Great post. It's not easy to open a small business. Most small business fail (statistically). I lost a lot of money trying to open a website.

I was really down about losing my money when a friend introduced me to a really cool way to get started on the web. There's a company that matches companies selling products with people that want to promote the products (the name of the company is Keep Clicking). I joined for free (actualy, they paid me $10, but I didn't get that until I had $50 in my account which took me about a month).

Most of the products I promote are free trial offers (it's kind of like magazines where the person can try a month free). The products usually ship for $4, and I get about $17! So I have no inventory, and I made over $1,200 last month.

Anyway, it's the best way to make money that I've seen, and it's free.

    Best of luck to you!

    Hello,

Mary Kay has a program called ';Dove Tailing'; which means that you can get another consultant to go out instead of you to do your classes. You have to split the profits(40-60 I think) with her and she will get any new recruits, if they join at the class.

Good luck and keep on going!

Does MAC Cosmetics still have their recycle program (trade 3 empty-used plastic containers for 1 new product)?

Yeah they do still have it but now it's 6 empty containers.

If you go to a MAC counter at a department store you can get a free lipstick.

But if you go to an actual MAC or MAC Pro store they will give you a free lipstick, lipglass or eyeshadow.

All collections are included except Viva Glam as all the proceeds go to charity.

Good luck and hope this helps.Does MAC Cosmetics still have their recycle program (trade 3 empty-used plastic containers for 1 new product)?
wow lol Honey it's 6 EMPTY CONTAINERS AND YES THEY STILL HAVE IT (MOST PLACES YOU ONLY GET A LIPSTICK

What was the cost of your cosmetic surgery?

Specifically, how much did your breast augmentation and/or tummy tuck cost? Where (city/state) was it performed? How long was your healing time? Are you happy with the results?

    Breast Augmentation

    $5600.00

    Great results!

I had an appointment with this doctor but I recently canceled. I have pretty nice breasts and decided I like them more than I thought. But, my best friend went through a pregnancy just like you and her son ruined her breasts as well. This doctor did her boobs and they look great. They look almost natural and perfect for her size. You can find a good doctor to do a good job for around 5-7 grand. If you pay more than that you are paying too much. If you pay less than 5 you are risking it. I did tons of research (I feel like I could perform the surgery myself..lol) and the average accredited doctor was between $5000-7000. Good luck! I had a girlfriend get a tummy tuck to get rid of stretch marks and she said it was very painful. What was the cost of your cosmetic surgery?
Mine cost nothing because I haven't had any. I suggest you spend serious time with a pastoral counselor before you resort to this. If you think you have issues that will be changed by changing something physical about yourself then frankly, I think you are misguided.

My one exception to the above would be reconstructive breast surgery for women who have had a mastectomy. That one I can understand. Also, sit-ups and a good diet can address a flabby tummy.
I've thought about it but not in any concrete way. Having children demolished what was once a pretty decent figure. I do know that a tummy tuck is the single most expensive cosmetic procedure. A simple implant operation in Billings, MT is ~$4000. My aunt had implants in the mid 80's. They look alright but they encapsulated so they're rock hard.

Have you called a few doctors in your area for price quotes. Most are happy to tell you and they'll even put some literature in the mail to you.

Good luck - I say, if it makes you feel better, go for it!
first things first, 5'6'; and 120 lbs (from this dad of two) is SMOKIN' HOT. my wife is 10 lbs more and the same height and i like the way she looks a lot.

i know no amount of sit-ups will change what the baby did (the skin is just stretched). my wife is a navy nurse and will probably get a tummy tuck and a breast enlargement (she has witnessed both surgeries many times)after her next promotion. an augmentation is much more expensive and women are less happy with the augmentation than a small enlargement.

just as Canada was the place for lasik in the eighties (for price and quality of surgery). right now it appears that Costa Rica is the place for cosmetic surgery. people are going there for the price, recovery in a beautiful place, and the overall expertise. packages like a tummy tuck and a breast augmentation/enlargement are common. the cost usually includes four or five star accommodations.

i do not think you need any counseling as the rude pseudo-spiritual person said earlier. in-fact i believe that you are planning something nice for yourself that will improve the way you see yourself. my only word of caution is that the tummy tuck will have a pretty good scar. you will be able to cover the scar with a bikini but naked in a mirror you will see it.

You don't have to be specific. Just say you're having surgery. What excuse can I give my boss for missing work due to cosmetic surgery?
People are going to notice that you came back from your ';shoulder surgery'; looking suspiciously thinner in the tummy. So how about being up front and telling the truth? Whatever you're afraid of, you will look ten times worse to them if you lie.

How do you know if a cosmetic product is water-based or oil-free?

I've read tips that recommended a water-based or oil-free cosmetics for oily skin, but they never show you what ingredients to look for or to avoid in those products....How do you know if a cosmetic product (like blush powder, foundation, etc...)is water-based or oil-free???How do you know if a cosmetic product is water-based or oil-free?
it will usually say on the package in tiny print, usually if it doesn't say ';oil free'; or ';water-based';, then obviously, it is not. Another way to tell if makeup is oil free is if it has an ';active ingredient'; of salicilic acid (usually about 0.6%). If you really want to be sure...read the ingredients, or just stick with the ones that are actually oil free, like Rimmel cool makeup, Maybelline pure makeup or almay for oily/acne prone skin. How do you know if a cosmetic product is water-based or oil-free?
those are good-selling features, so if they are water-based or oil-free, it will be somewhere on the packaging.
Water based will say on the label (as the main ingredient) Water or Aqua. If your cosmetics have these on them then they are water based.

Oil based will say on the label, mineral oil, petrolatum (I think that's how you spell it), petroleum or it won't say anything.

FYI nut oils such as almond oil are good for your skin.

  • What should I get at the Cosmetic Company Store?

I'm going to be going to the Woodbury Commons outlet mall in New York in a week, and I was deciding on what to get at the Cosmetic Company Store. Anyone have suggestions? How much is the general cost of the items? What should I get at the Cosmetic Company Store?
you never know what's going to be there... i would get anything you feel like getting

usually it's 20-30% off retail pricesWhat should I get at the Cosmetic Company Store?
Can't really suggest you anything, because you don't know whats going to be there or what is not going to be there, it really depends on the store and what they have. And the items are usually 20-30% off from the original retail price (:

And they usually have discontinued items that companies no longer carry at their usual store/counters.

Should parents be allowed to perform cosmetic surgery on children without their consent?

I am referring to a varitey of procedures:

    1) Male Circumcision

    2) Female Circumcision/ genital mutilation

    3) The ';fixing'; of intersexed babies

    4) Foot binding or over-corseting of girls

    To a lesser extent:

    5) Piercings and, hypothetically, tattoos

    6) Forcing them to use tanning beds

Ideas? Are some body modifications acceptable, but not others? Where do you draw the line?Should parents be allowed to perform cosmetic surgery on children without their consent?
Now the thorny question of what is defined as ';cosmetic surgery'; arises. Its not that simple. I was in Germany many years ago and my friends observed a boy with ears sticking out from the sides of his head (like Prince Charles only a bit worse). My German friend exclaimed ';omg why don't his parents get that attended to?'; My Canadian friend suggested ';because its cosmetic surgery and bound to cost a wad of money';. My German friend said ';that's not true. The boy is liable to experience psychological problems because of what he looks like. In Germany this procedure is covered by the health care provider'; (she was a nurse).

Is ';circus clown'; or ';freak'; in the eye of the beholder? I don't know. But if health insurance would cover such things I would be not at all hesitant to take advantage of the opportunity, either for myself or dependents.

    edit: Vianka

That is a very sad story. Kids are so cruel and something like that SHOULD be covered by the insurance provider. Fix it now before the kid gets any more psychologically damaged than he or she already is. That kid is being abused multiple times every single day over something that can be fixed.Should parents be allowed to perform cosmetic surgery on children without their consent?
    You're a question machine. Yes to #1 and #3. No to #2, #4, #5,and #6.

#1 is a harmless tradition and pleasure isn't reduced. #3 is going to help a child mentally. I think a child would be messed up if they realize they are both sexes.

#2 and #4 are cruel. #5 and #6 are unusual.
circumcision (male and female), i say no.

i am really torn on the intersexed babies

foot-binding and over corseting definately no

no to both the last 2

i think that the child should make the decision since it affects them most directly.

i am torn on the intersexed babies though because it could save the child some social trauma later in life, but i still think it should be the child's decision because it is their body.
Actually, I can think of some instances where cosmetic surgery would be beneficial to a child such as fixing a lazy eye or ear surgery if a child's ears stick out so far that other children tease them. Also braces to straighten the teeth. These are all things that can improve the childs confidence and avoid having other children tease them.

My niece has ears that stick out so far that the children at school call her dumbo, but my sister refuses to get them fixed because she believes it is something the child must learn to deal with and should get fixed after he daughter is an adult and if she wishes to do so. Personally, I think my sister is being cruel and just doesn't want to spend the money.
Cleft lip too....in most cases it's a cosmetic procedure not a medical.

    Basically no to the rest.
YES FOR SOMETHING THAT HAS TO BE DONE NO FOR SOMETHING THAT CAN WAIT
A very touch subject. I suppose I'd like to say I'm against male circumcision, but sometimes I'm not so sure. And the intersexed babies, I do jump at the chance to say no, yet that's not set in stone. I think of the boy who had a botched circumcision and they tried to pass him off as a female. Wrong on so many levels.

Foot binding is just totally unnecessary and unattractive and anti-women. The same as corseting girls. Should a woman decide to engage in any of them when older, that's there business.

I am so against piercings on children. My ears were pierced unevenly and I don't want to go get two more piercings just to fix them. Just let the kids decide when they get older!!!
1 - not unless its necessary

    2. no

    3. Once the genetics are decided yes- DNA can tell whether the baby is a male/female.

    4. no

    5. no

    6. no

Correcting defects - like cleft lip/palate, too prominent ears, skin tags, birthmarks, webbing of fingers/feet - ALL YES. In years in the NICU I saw plenty.
I feel it should be an all or nothing sort of thing. We should decide that either it's wrong to perform these surgeries on those who cannot give consent or leave it up to the individual parents.
Only if children are similarly permitted to force cosmetic surgery on their parents. (Fair is fair).

As for someone who thinks MGM is acceptable but ear-piercings are not ..... ugh.
Surgeries carry risk, and should not be taken lightly. That being said, where does one draw the line in a free society? As a parent, it is your job to get your child from point A(childhood) to point B(adulthood) in as complete a package as possible. Who can tell you what is right for your child? The government? The ice-cream man?

Most people have the best interest of their child at heart. I think the most treacherous position applies to a very small percentage of the population.

If this were to be viewed as a crime, one would have to prove intent. It could be analyzed under tort law, but I doubt most surgeries would be validated as tortious.

One would hope that a parent would use a modicum of discretion.
The only case I see that a parent should allow cosmetic surgery is when a child gets burned and need facial reconstruction. Or when a baby have a defect on their face that is fixable by surgery. Waiting for the child to be able to consent would be child abuse.

    The line should be drawn:

    - When it will harm the child. Like in female circumcision,

    - When the child is old enough to talk yes or no.
I am against all of these.

I'm suprised by the number of people who would change intersex babies- DNA is NOT always clear, and one surgery does NOT fix the problem! These children, if treated, will be subjected to horrible, invasive procedures all through out childhood!

I encourage ALL of you to go to the Intersex Society website and read the stories posted there of children who were born intersexed and ';fixed'; by doctors... http://www.isna.org/

The stories are horrific and heartbreaking- ALL of them wish that they had been left alone the way that nature made them. Very, very sad. You want to give a kid emotional problems, a sure way to do it is to subject them to multiple genital procedures and exams throughout their childhood. -Neb
I go back and forth about male circumcision (I'm leaning more toward ';no'; nowadays), but as for everything else, all bets are off. I remember seeing a baby girl with pierced ears and wondering how a parent could put her through that at such a young age.
I think those are all things the children should be able to decide for themselves when they're older. Circumcision never was an issue since I have girls but I did not believe in getting their ears pierced. I waited until they were old enough to ask to get it done. Now, if they would only stop gauging their ears...

The toughest one is ';fixing'; intersexed babies. You might choose a sex for the child and turn out to be totally wrong. If you are wrong, it could have disastrous results for the child. The child may have been changed into one sex but identifies with the other. It's not worth the risk and any surgery should be put off until the child chooses a gender he or she wants to become.
No. If its something you can't do to an adult without their consent, then you shouldn't be able to do it to kids. If it's some disfigurement that is fixable, that could be done. Tanning beds cause skin cancer.

What field of study involves creating cosmetic products? I really want to be a comestic product maker?

Should I go into biochesitry? What field of study involves creating cosmetic products? I really want to be a comestic product maker?
chemistry, depends on your area of research as a grad student. and be prepared to go all the way because with just a bs you'll be at the bottom end of the research pile. if your grades are stellar most universities will allow you to go from your bs straight to the phd program but you'll have to test out your ms during your first semesterWhat field of study involves creating cosmetic products? I really want to be a comestic product maker?
Well you can teach yourself, a lot of people started there on line began mixing product in their kitchens, but I would suggest chemistry and some schools offer cosmetic chemistry as a major.

    Cosmetology.

That would be a good place to start so you can learn all the skin structures and how to apply every type of make up correctly and a few other things too.
You're gonna need to know math, biology, chemistry, some cosmetology and definitely biochemistry.

What's the smallest amount of cosmetic products you'd be willing to leave the house wearing?

    Make-up products specifically.

For me, I'd need at least some waterproof mascara, since I have pale eyelashes, and some concealer for a scar I have on my chin.

And chap stick, if that counts...What's the smallest amount of cosmetic products you'd be willing to leave the house wearing?
I'm perfectly comfortable leaving the house wearing no make up at all. But if I am going like to work or something I always have my mascara, liner and very light bronzer on.What's the smallest amount of cosmetic products you'd be willing to leave the house wearing?
MOISTURISE!!! ( one with UV protection) Elixer of youth

Apart from that, naked is ok.

    1) When I was 18, a soft EYE PENCIL (at outer edge of eye to lift the shape to almond, and give depth to fair lashes) and BROWN EYE SHADOW, to lift the eye shape to almond. (outer edge of eye only)

and occasionally NATURAL COLOUR LIPSTICK for a little cheek colour and to cover pale lips... friends used to comment how pretty I was without make up..(hee hee)

    2) Since then, my essential is LIPPY!! I look quite pale and wash out easily, so natural LIPSTICK to cover pale lips, on upper cheek-line, and outer edge of eye between lid and brow.)

    3) My cousin is drop-dead gorgeous and I caught her applying her technique one fateful day ..so simple..BLUSHER ( applied on cheeks and to the outer eye to brow, and slightly above..huge blusher brush) Honestly, that's all she (and sometimes I) use for day wear, it tones the whole face to a fresh natural glow.

    4) I tend to prefer a lash and BROW TINT (lasts for 6wks), to stop my fair brow disappearing in direct sunlight.

    Products I like:

Roskin, Olay, Nivea Visage, Dermalogica, Shiseido Moisturisers (any better than none)

    Elisabeth Arden lipsticks

    Shisiedo pencils

    Nutri-metics, Estee Lauder shadows

Nothing applied too obviously, and all blended to a natural finish.
I can't leave without: at least two different eyeshadows, mascara, eyeliner top and bottom, eyeliner in waterline (top and bottoms) filling in brows, concealer, foundation, and powder and I'm ready to go. That's all I wear if I'm in a hurry or have to go. But without those, I'll never go out in public.
I'd be willing to leave the house without any.

People don't need makeup to look good, I like the more natural look, not piles of makeup piled high on your face, it makes you look fake, and ugly.

I do not wear makeup very often,, maybe once every month.
I just got this oil of olay moisturizer/concealer that I love and mascara and lipgloss maybe a dash of blush( I am pale, lol)
As long as I have my sunglasses, I'll leave the house without makeup...but I keep a powder compact and lipstick in my handbag just in case.
    1.foundation

    lip balm w/ brush
ummm concealer for my under eyes ...but I usually leave with mascara as well.
    concealer and eyeliner
I'm a makeup artist and I have no problem walking out of the house with no makeup. It's not that big of a deal. Some days I'm just lazy :)
uhhh none. I think anyone who would never be willing to leave the house without makeup is just too vain.
    tinted moisturizer

ummmmmm i guess......... lip gloss or mascara
i CANT leave the house without curling my eyelashes
all i need is eyeliner and im all good :D

How long can I keep soft cosmetic lenses, if used sparingly?

I have a pair of colored/cosmetic soft lenses (no grade). I plan to wear them on special occasions only. Is it ok to keep them as long as they are ok to wear? Or is there an expiration, regardless of how often you use it? I'm talking about wearing them maybe once or twice a month. How long can I keep soft cosmetic lenses, if used sparingly?
I believe there is an expiry date, but I have been using a pair of soft lenses occasionally now for over 5 years. My optician was a bit horrified when I told him, but I have had no problems. The main thing is they must be scrupulously clean; re-wash every 2-3 days and put in fresh sterilising solution every time. Do NOT use water - only use recommended saline and cleanser solutions. Just remember your eyes are precious and there are some very mean bacteria out there that can cause blindness. If you leave your lenses in the same solution for too long the bacteria will multiply! Also make sure you have regular eye-health checks. How long can I keep soft cosmetic lenses, if used sparingly?
The contact lenses you have will determine how long they last.Even though you don't use them on a regular basis 6 mos is the longest amount of time that you should be using your contacts for.Even though they may not be in your eyes the lens will still deteriorate and develop protien buildup internally over time.Back in the days we used enzymes pills but nowadays the anti protein solutions offered are meant to operate from 3 mos to 6 mos if you have lenses rated for that period of time. Most lenses are meant to be used up to a month unless they are vial type lenses rated for the longer period of time. But as a rule of thumb when the contacts start irritating your eyes shortly after putting them in you probably need them changed.Careful investigation will probably show that the lenses have little white spots within the lenses themselve and thats the protien buildup.. but its always good to check with the Opt if in doubt..
i have prescription contacts, since i wear them all the time, im sure since you wear them one or twice you can keep them. just make sure they're in contact solution 24/7 unless they're not in your eyes

    Merle Norman Cosmetics Studio?

Hi. I was wondering if anyone out there is a Merle Norman Cosmetics Studio Owner. I have been toying with opening one for years. There was one in our area that closed years ago. Anyway, if you, or someone you know, is a studio owner, do you like it? What are the good points and the bad points of this small business? Thanks for any information you can give me.Merle Norman Cosmetics Studio?
Take a different approach and talk to a business counselor before you do anything especially spend money. I'd call the local office of SCORE (go to http://www.score.org and input your zip code to find the chapter nearest you), the advice is FREE.

The counselor at SCORE will most likely advise you to write a business plan which is very good advice because it will force you to dig out all of the start up details and the costs of starting a Merle Norman Cosmetics Studio and force you to also understand all of the aspects of this business including the customers you'll concentrate on (your market ) and how you'll go after them.

You'll need to register the business with your state controller's office and make sure that you have any city and county licenses if any are needed where you live. All of this will come out in a business plan.

    Try this link :

i don't know the first thing about business ownership, but i am a customer, and let me tell you i love your products! the face powders and oil-absorbing lotions are great. what got me hooked was when my local store was doing free makeovers. they also have buy-2-products-get-a-gift-bag specials every now and then. good luck!

Any one break out using N.Y.C. cosmetics?

I recently have been using N.Y.C. coverup and powder and my skin has broken out pretty bad. But then again I've also been using Sea Breeze astrigent but I don't think that would cause it. I have used N.Y.C. blush and bronzer for the past few years and I've never had a problem. Any one break out using N.Y.C. cosmetics?
good question. i used nyc smooth cover up foundation or something like that today. there are a few new small spots that have cropped up actually. i should stop using it but i think it gives pretty good coverage, and i aints the money to buy a new brand. if you use it every once in a while im sure it's ok.... however i have not bought anything else from NYC cept this so I can't say whether its other products are the sameAny one break out using N.Y.C. cosmetics?
I used the foundation and it gave me a rash on my checks i think it was that not 100 % sure. But the foundation in my opinion is really good it gives you a flawless look and i have extremely bad skin and tried everything and this foundation made me look better then when i used clinique super-fit.

my friend broke out and got this huge

use theyre stuff sometimes too but

have never broken out. and the weird

thing is that my skin is more sensitive

I haven't, but if it makes you break out then don't use it! It is pretty cheap and doesn't cover very well anyways. Try some better stuff like l'oreal or covergirl.

What has your experience with homemade eyeshadow, lipgloss and balms shown, do they compare to storebought products?Homemade cosmetics, eyeshadow and lipgloss?
They are even better! Factories that make regular makeup are machines. They tend to have less quality scents, feel etc then homemade.

Big brands like mabelline etc are going to quantity not quality. . .they are doing it for money...they don't really care how good the product is. Homemade businesses..usually do it for a love of beauty and therefore put more time and effort into their products.

What brand do you like? For MAC, grab some make-up brushes. It is a great steal since the price is quite cheap. brushes are of good quality.

What do you guys think of elf cosmetics?

I have recently purchased a few items from ELF and I like the quality of most of the products. The bronzer is really good and the colour stick blends nicely with my skin. The plumping gloss adds a plump look to my lips and a nice shine. Overall its good for the price you pay!

hope this helped! What do you guys think of elf cosmetics?
Most of the elves I hang out with absolutely HATE cosmetics.

For some unexplained reason, cosmetics have many undesirable side effects for elves that don't seem to occur with humans.

Besides, most elves are so damn cute without make-up, that they don't need cosmetices.

Just my 2 cents. What do you guys think of elf cosmetics?
i think its a hit or miss brand.

some things are great for the price.. some -you will get what you pay for..

i think the all over face color sticks are great for $1.

the eyeshadow is horrible.. as is the lipgloss.

their brushes are okay. not the best. but a great deal for a dollar.

and the eyeshadow pallets can be used with MAC shadows :O

    glad to help:]
I buy their empty compacts because they fit MAC, Urban decay, and NYX trio shadows. Their eyeshadow brush and eyelash curler are good for the price. Most of their makeup is bad quality. There are other drugstore brands that are good quality- try NYX (cherryculture.com), Jane, Prestige, and some items by Wet n Wild if you want cheaper quality makeup.
garbage! i hate them! but i will say good quality brushes and good application can make any cosmetics better. but e.l.f. is really LOW quality. i hate it.
Elf cosmetics, are they for Gmomes and Fairies? LOL

Why on earth are you asking guys about cosmetics?

Just used the link. For the sake of your selve don't use this product it may turn you from an elf into a buff.
Some of their things are good. Their clear brow/lash mascara stuff is pretty good for the brows. They have a really good lash comb. And that all-color rub on foundation thing is pretty good too. But the lip gloss? UGH!
I ordered it one time.. was not impressed.. horrible lip gloss and bad eye shadow.. brushes weer ok and the foundation stick was worth a dollar... but overall i didnt like them.. wouldnt order again.
sorry but I have never heard of that brand it did not look that bad.....Sorry!!!!~Morgan
what the heck are elf cosmetics!?
The black eyeliner is pretty good ... other than that bagh!
boring.i could go to walmart and get better colors for a $1.
i've never heard of them before they must not be a popular brand

KYRIE ELEISON..What is your opinion of cosmetic plastic surgery?
i think cosmetic plastic surgery is very bad because when most people will want to look like this or that the surgeron will end doing a bad job making you look like a complete monster. if there a body part that you don't really like about yourself just leave it the way it is. and just love yourself becuase god created us differently.
I think plastic surgery should be reserved for those who actually NEED it and not for some idiot celebrity who can't deal with the fact that people age.

Seriously- some people don't even look human after some of that.
I don't think I'd ever do it myself; but I don't begrudge others if it makes them feel happier and more self-confident.

cosmetic sharpeners make the points shorter so that you have more precision with the pencil, and regular ones tend to make the tip longer b/c when you write you don't necessarily need a shortened tip.

Old cosmetics damage the make-up bag?

It's really impossible to know how this happened. I doubt that it was the makeup but maybe it was some kind of household pests that got into the makeup. Did you have it stored in a box, or a dark closed place?Old cosmetics damage the make-up bag?
first, throw out the make up and don't even think of using it cuz it will completely damage ur skin even if it is la prairie!! second, good luck finding the pests that ate ur make up bag..

cosmetic products which contain mink oil? Many cosmetics contain mink oil, derived from the fat of mink, an unkosher animal. Can religious Jews use ...?
Jews are allowed to derive benefit form nonkosher animals, we're just not allowed to eat them. And when it comes to products that may be edible, there has to be a certain amount of the nonkosher element in it for it to count as nonkosher - the amount depends on the type of nonkosher food, what state it's in (solid vs. liquid vs. oil), and certain questions related to the cooking process.

So for a cosmetic like lipstick, which comes in contact with the mouth (and remains there), it could be problematic - it would depend on the amount of mink oil and how it was added to the formula. For an eyebrow pencil or other item that is not intended to be eaten or used by mouth, then there is no problem.

Having said that, there are some Jews who are so strict in their practices that they now look for a rabbi's supervision on all household products, regardless of whether it is likely they will be ingested. It's not required by halacha, but if it gives a community an added comfort level, there are many supervisory companies who are more than willing to provide the service.

to find information about kosher cosmetics. The only company that I know of with certification is ADWE. The same problem applies to toothpaste and lotions which may contain gelatin and sometimes gelatin is derived from non-kosher sources. There is also artificial gelatin. My Rabbi said usually they do not use real gelatin. Check it out with the sites I listed above.
Its true but today the (k) symbol on products indicates it is Kosher and we even have SHAMPOO that is KOSHER., and there are reasons why you pay the tax on it.
Is this true?? I hope you are kidding!

Please state your age, your insight about cosmetic surgeries, and who do you think are the people in need of them.

Thanks very much for you help. It'll be a great help in our term paper. What do you think about cosmetic surgeries?
    27 yr old.

I think cosmetic surgery is okay to help someone feel better about themselves. I don't judge people who have it done because they may need this in order to function. What do you think about cosmetic surgeries?
    I'm 53 %26amp; I think it's up to the person.

However, I find our culture drives people to be dissatisfied with their looks.

I know some people who have had liposuction %26amp; it's taken a year to recover, they weren't satisfied with results because of bumps or concave sections %26amp; went for 2nd surgeries.

People who ';need'; them are those who have thought carefully about the surgery %26amp; why they are getting it; %26amp; are not dissatisfied with their entire bodies.
    13. but im still on high honor roll and in honors classes. I think it is okay for some women to get cosmetic surgery. If that is what they need to feel confident about themselves then go for it. I don't believe the should try and change their entire face but if they need a straighter nose to be able to look in the mirror without frowning, or bigger boobs to buy that dress without it feeling like a waste of money, then okay sure. but if they are just trying to land that playboy ad with their perfect ***, boobs, nose, lips etc. then that is just ridiculous
