How do find out if a cosmetic product has been tested on animals?

I heard herbal esences shampoo is but would really like to know if this is true. I am not against animal testing on medicines as they are really dangerous but it is not nessecary for cosmetics. Somebody told me about how the animals lose all their hair and are really traumitised and I don't think its right when its not nessesary. Do you agree? Can I find out is this true? How do find out if a cosmetic product has been tested on animals?
herbal essence is tested on animals it is made by proctor and gamble and this is what they say

P%26amp;G admit that guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, ferrets, rats and mice are among the animals used in their 鈥榩roduct safety research鈥? as well as cats and dogs in pet food experiments. Uncaged鈥檚 investigations continue to reveal disturbing examples of P%26amp;G鈥檚 ongoing involvement in painful and lethal animal tests.

Procter %26amp; Gamble exist for one reason, and one reason only - to make as much money as possible. P%26amp;G test on animals because of their desire to get new chemical ingredients on to the market. This allows them to claim that their new hair dye, skin cream or washing powder etc. is 鈥榥ew, improved鈥? in the hope of increasing sales. But with many companies producing similar consumer products without carrying out animal tests, it shows that P%26amp;G鈥檚 cruelty is motivated by greed.

you will find a full list hereHow do find out if a cosmetic product has been tested on animals?
read on the back of the product or write to the manufacturing company i think its usually proctor and gamble...look them up! or look up animal testing and see what rreally happens to the animals if your that worried about it
Test it on your own animal.

If it has some kind of allergic reation or dies, then it was probably never tested on animals.
it ususally states on the product if it has been tested on animals. Personally I used herbal essence, thinking it would be lovely, but it was crap. Would never use it again. I don't think animals should be used for cosmetic testing.
try readin' the label luv, askin' the guy/galbehind the counter or phoning the number of the company...again, on the label.

Everythings written on the label...hopefully.
I wish I knew as I always thought that they put a little sign on the packaging to tell you if it's been tested on animals or not. Personally I have a lot of allergies so normally if I use makeup that's been tested on them I no about it!!! I use herbal essence and did not know that, but it's really good for my hair!
Most products that don't test on animals have a pair of rabbit ears or some animal icon on the back.

They don't wash the animals in the shampoo but they put it in their eyes as they can't cry to remove it. It's sickening. Any animal testing, medical or cosmetic, is sickening. You've seen what medical testing can do to humans but you say it's ok to do it to animals that can't cry out to show how much pain they are in.

PETA
Well. They usually just write - ';This product is not tested on animals.'; And if you don't believe just try it on an animal ( which is awful) and you'll see.
I pretty much go by the rule that if a product doesn't say whether it tests on animals or not, then it probably does. Companies who don't test on animals tend to have a message on their products shouting it out.

I've looked at the website, and Herbal Essences is produced by a huge company called Proctor and Gamble, who produce a hell of a lot of products. This company DO test their products in animals. Look at their website and you will probably be shocked by the number of products that you use everday that are tested on animals. Are Pringles so important that hundreds of animals need to live in misery?

Animals are just seen by these companies as a tool for them to ultimately make more money out of their gimmicky (and probably crap and useless) products.
I am very concerned about this also - so what I tend to do is check my lipstick on my cat first and see if he flinches.
write to the company or read the containers
Yup i agree with you! Usually you can see if it has been tested on animalos by the bottom or side of the packaging, for example my charles worthington shampoo says it has been tested but not on animals. so i feel comfortable using it.
In the UK, there should be a little rabbit symbol on the packaging so show that no animal testing occurred.
Rub it in a rabbit's eye, then you know for sure that it has been tested!
look on the back
Go to PETA's website at:

http://www.caringconsumer.com/resources_companies.asp
There is a book you can buy which tells you which companies test on animals and which other companies they are part of or own etc. I don't know what it's called but my friend has it. Basically, make up wise, you're talking Clarins olny! Most others test on them but shampoo I'm not sure. If you Google 'do Clairol test on animals?' it should give you a link to a document which will provide names of companies which do and don't.

How can i establish a small cosmetic factory?

I want to manufacture a new innovatory clinically proven cosmeceutical product. It has also shown to be commercially viable in first trials. All the preliminary studies have been successfully done. So I want to set up a small factory. It seems I have two ways:

1- Build up my own factory from the beginning.

2- Find a partner who already has a factory who needs someone to invest and expand the lines of his products.

How can I do either of them? How can i establish a small cosmetic factory?
You can go to China, purchase land, build factory and exploit cheap labor.

or give me $403,002,200 and I will be your partner,

we will start working from my garage....which I will yet have to purchase.

  • How Can You Find Out What Cosmetic Comanys Test On Animals?

I need to know what makeup and other companys test on animals. If it doesn't say Not Tested On Animals is that an automatic sign they do? Is there a list or something of companies that test on animals? How Can You Find Out What Cosmetic Comanys Test On Animals?
Make sure it says ';ingredients not tested on animals'; or ';no animal testing,'; rather than just ';finished product not tested on animals.'; And if it says nothing then, yes, they probably do test on animals. PETA publishes a list each year. Check their website. How Can You Find Out What Cosmetic Comanys Test On Animals?
Arbonne does not test on animals and has the PETA bunny to prove it. Their products are tested on humans and not released for sale until each product has a 100% pass rate.

Also, go to www.navs.org. They offer a book called Personal Care for People Who Care. It lists who does and does not test on animals. You have to be careful because some companies themselves do not test their products on animals but where they buy the ingredients from might. Does that make sense?
...';they'; all do... it's like Dolphin free Tuna... ';they'; got Flipper in the can with ';Charlie'; no matter what the can says... It's ALL about the ';$$$$$';....

How do I get rid of my moles with out laser or cosmetic surgory?

I have horrible slightly raised moles on my face and neck, they really beat up my confidence! I'm 14 and I get bullied at school, I've already attempted suicide once this year, unfortunatly i did not work! Please tell me how to remove them at home! How do I get rid of my moles with out laser or cosmetic surgory?
:( I was bullied really bad at school for having diabetes, so I know how horrible kids can be, but honestly don't kill yourself - things will get better. People always tell you to enjoy your childhood cos they are ';the best years of your life'; - what nonsence! I got treated really bad as a kid - beaten up by my parents and bullied at school - I was mute for a long time and I tried to kill myself too, but now that I'm an adult I am getting my confidence up and actually starting to enjoy my life! I can go where I want to and do what I want to and if someone is mean I can just not speak to them again! Try to stick it out - I hope your situation isn't as bad as mine was and there is someone you can talk to - there are things that you can do to help - even going as far as moving schools if you have to. If you talk to an adult try to make sure that they understand how bad this situation is for you, or you can write it down so you can make sure you say everything you want to say. There's lots of charities that can help you too - there were some good ones that helped me a lot when I was 16/17 but I know there are some for younger people too. A good place to ask is actually childline - you can talk stuff through with them and they can help you to get in touch with organisations that can help you - I wrote to a childline councillor for a while and she really helped me out. It's important that you try to get through all this stuff while keeping on the right side of the law and keep up with school - it will help you out so much when you're older - I've got friends who didn't go to school cos of bullying and didn't pass any exams etc. and they are stuggling with rubbish jobs now and bad stuff like drugs - I'm lucky that I dealt with stuff by studying heaps to try to stop myself thinkin about it and now I've got a job that I love!

Anyway, as for moles, most people honestly probably don't even notice them, but I totally understand how bad you can feel if you don't like the way you look, esp. if that's reinforced by bullies. Moles aren't like spots that can be helped by creams etc. and they have the added problem that they can be dangerous - you should go to see your dr and get them removed. Tell the dr that you are being bullied at school because of them and hopefully that'll be more than enough reason for him to get them removed for you. I had one removed from my stomach a couple of years ago and it was fine - it was surgery but only a local anasthetic, they don't make you go to sleep, and it didn't hurt at all and only took 15 mins! Also you might be able to get them frozen off. But you do need to see your dr about it - remember you can ask to see a female dr and you can take someone with you if you don't want to go on your own, and also drs can't tell anyone anything about your treatment - you're 14 so they can't even tell your parents.

I hope some of that helps - good luck xxHow do I get rid of my moles with out laser or cosmetic surgory?
    Brilliant advice Report Abuse

Cathy had some good advice but she may be incorrect about a couple of things, For almost any procedure such as this you will have to have parental consent at 14. this is coming ffrom an experienced health care provider. regardless, you should talk with your parents and then talk to your doctor. Report Abuse

suicide for a mole? you've got to be joking, look at Cindy Crawford, she has a mole on her face.

you have the rest of your life ahead of you, get laser treatment and stop thinking about suicide, you will devastate your family
You can borrow my 12 bore for a fiver.
i got one as wel.. dont get it removed, its who you are, sort of like an identity, trust me, keep it. its god gift to you, dont get it removed
    send for a experienced gardener
Oh geez - you need to see a doctor for your mole removal, and for your emotional problems. Please.
Don't be foolish, if you attempt to indulge in this irresponsible self mutilation you are likely to end up with a much more unsightly problem.

This type of removal must be carried out by experts if you want a good result.
Omg.. thats scary! Look there is nothing wrong with moles its just austin powers movies dont help the sittuation. Moles are dangerous things too leave them alone dont scratch or try to cut them off . They are unactive cancer spots. Just stand up to yourself at school tell them basically to **** off. Am sure they have enough problems in there lives aswell. Look dont try and kill your self thats not the answer .. You could be taken into psychiatric care for that. Just forget about what other people think your gorgeous and always believe in yourself =D **Hope i helped you dearie**
I am sorry to hear of your suicide attempt.

Please be careful as moles can become cancerous if irritated by being picked at. Its best to seek medical advice. I had some warts removed from my back surgically and it didn't hurt. Please see your doc and he will arrange a painless removal for you.
I am now 21 and i was teased terribly for my moles, trust me there is NOTHING you can do at home for them, but there are ways to get ride of them with out surgery. If your doctor does not think your moles are cancerous then they can freeze them off right there in the office, with very little pain and little to no scarring.
you cant remove them at home go to the doctor with your parents and have a talk about it ,and they will advise you about it , suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem and please do not try that again your whole life is in front of you and every problem can be worked out ,talk to your parents and stop bottling all this up
i hit them on the head with me spade they nearly ruined me lawn the pesky divils x

you have a great name !

Does united health care insurance pays for cosmetics surgery?

I don't know for sure what you mean by United Health Care - it's through your job? school?

But anyway - the only way anything cosmetic is covered is when it's medically necessary.

My son got bit by a dog on his face - actually his eye, the upper area around his eyebrow. Because the emergency room Dr was concerned about how it would heal and the appearance of his face - he called in a Plastic Surgeon to do all the stitches and handle the situation. Because it was a puncture wound and so close to his brain - when it showed slight signs of infection only hours after leaving the hospital, the Plastic Surgeon admitted him into the hospital and he stayed there 6 days on an IV and with constant attention to his wound.

This guy was GREAT! He called and got things approved through my insurance company and took excellent care of my son, he said he was hoping that if they were really careful with how it healed there would be no need for corrective surgery later. He was right, now a few yrs later you can't see the scar.

He advised us that if Plastic Surgery were deemed MEDICALLY nec it would be covered, but if it was JUST 100% for appearance we'd likely pay it ourselves.

My cousin had a breast reduction surgery that was covered by her insurance because they believed the size and weight of her breasts was causing her back problems and headaches.

If when you say United Health - medical through the government - if you are a govmnt employee and have coverage - then they'll cover medically nec procedures. If you mean like public assistance type Medicaid - no they will not cover much in the way of those types of things - it's harder, but again if it's needed to stay alive - then yes.

I worked in insurance for yrs - so have a little knowledge of the typical policies.Does united health care insurance pays for cosmetics surgery?
No - it barely pays for required surgery.Does united health care insurance pays for cosmetics surgery?
I dont know if United Health Care Insurance pays for cosmetic surgery, most insurance plans dont cover cosmetic procedures. Go to this website, they do cover cosmetic surgery and braces unlike insurance plans. www.AffordableDental4all.com
I have yet to see any insurance pay for anything cosmetic except breast reduction if deemed medically necessary. No insurance will pay for any cosmetic dental work.
i don't think any ins. pays for cosmetic procedures.
